Former Slovak President Michal Kovac in a serious condition hospitalised in one of hospitals of Bratislava, reports RIA “Novosti” with reference to the newspaper Novy cas.

The former President was initially hospitalized on Friday night in the intensive care unit of cardiology, however, the patient’s condition deteriorated and the doctors, trying to keep him alive, were forced to transfer him to a state of artificial coma, the newspaper reports.

Kovács, 86 years 1993-1998 he was the first President of the independent Slovak Republic.

In recent years, Kovacs has a serious illness, in particular, he was diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease. The current emergency hospitalization of the former President – the third this year.

After the previous two Kovacs returned home, there to look after him like his wife and daughter.
