Former German football clubs Borussia mönchengladbach and “Kaiserslautern” Brazilian Marcelo Pletsch sentenced to nine years and two months imprisonment on charges of possession of 793 kg of marijuana, according to Bild.

The athlete finished his career in 2011, and then worked in Brazil on pig farm located on the border with Paraguay. In November 2015 in Toledo the local police stopped his truck and found it nearly a ton of drugs.

From November 10, 2015 the Brazilian was under investigation. Prosecutors had asked for the accused to 15 years imprisonment.

After the verdict, Marcelo Pletsch continues to deny the charges and plans to appeal, although his lawyers did not really hope for a positive outcome.

Almost half of the period 40-year-old ex-football player must spend in the jail. In the summer of 2019 Pletsch can expect in jail “semi-open regime.” To be released, he will be able not earlier than 2022.
