The Federal security service has interrogated the former head of security service of Yukos , Alexei Pichugin, was sentenced to life imprisonment for organizing assassinations. The lawyer condemned Ksenia Kostromina told that the position of his client have not changed, reports TASS.

“The interrogation took place. The position of Alexey Vladimirovich has not changed – he considers himself an unlawfully convicted person and was not involved in any crimes in which he was charged,” said she.

While Kostromina did not specify under which criminal case was questioned Pichugin, referring to a subscription about nondisclosure. Official comments from law enforcement while also not reported.

Informed source of “Interfax” familiar with the situation, reported that Pichugin is a witness in a murder casebrought against former Yukos CEO Mikhail Khodorkovsky. “Pichugin is a witness in the case – about the murder of 98-year of the mayor of Nefteyugansk Vladimir Petukhov. It needs to be questioned for procedural consolidation of his testimony” – said the Agency interlocutor.

Pichugin was life sentenced in 2007 for the murder of Nefteyugansk mayor Vladimir Petukhov, as well as a number of murders. He was kept in prison for life convicts “Black Dolphin” in the Orenburg region. In the fall of 2015 Pichugin filed a petition for clemency to the President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin. The murder of Vladimir Petukhov took place on 26 June 1998. Before his death, the mayor has accused YUKOS that the company does not pay taxes to the local budget, which the city began interruptions in wages and public services. In June 1998, Petukhov in protest went on hunger strike, which stopped after the promises of the Governor of the Khanty-Mansi Autonomous Okrug Alexander Filipenko to take action. A few days Petukhov was shot from the automatic machine.
