The Georgian authorities are concerned about the reports of sending additional Russian s-300 in Abkhazia
The Georgian authorities announced the shipment from Russia to Abkhazia anti-aircraft missile systems s-300 and expressed concern over the situation. The Tbilisi Declaration came after information about the strengthening of the Russian presence on the territory of the partially recognized Republic was published by the international intelligence community volunteer InformNapalm. Against this background, Russia is conducting large-scale field outputs of the air defense forces, particularly in Abkhazia. Meanwhile, the media reported about the imminent appearance in the southern military district of the new army.
Foreign Minister of Georgia Mikheil Janelidze expressed concern over reports about the introduction of Russia in Abkhazia additional anti-aircraft missile systems s-300, reports “Interfax”. Information about sending SAM Minister put on a par with a recent order of Russian President Vladimir Putin to allow the military of South Ossetia to serve under contract in the Russian army.
“We have information on the import into Abkhazia of Russian additional sets of s-300. These actions of the Russian side as well as the decision about joining of the Russian Armed forces units in South Ossetia once again confirms that the Russian policy aimed at the annexation, not peace and security,” said Friday at a briefing of emergency medicine.
The Secretary of national security Council of Georgia Mr. David Rakviashvili in conversation with journalists suggested that the deployment of Russian anti-aircraft missile systems s-300 in Abkhazia is directed not against Georgia, which has no modern air force, but against the activity of NATO in the Black sea.
In mid-February, NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg said that NATO will strengthen the presence of military presence of the Alliance in the Black sea, but it will be defensive in nature.
Recently in the Black sea entered the French frigate La Fayette, which is sent to the Bulgarian port of Varna. The ship is equipped with modern anti-ship Exocet missiles with a range of 70 km and anti-aircraft missile system Crotale Naval. The Montreux Convention limits the time ships nachimovsky States in the Black sea 21 days.
In February we spread the message about the dangerous convergence of Russian aircraft with an American destroyer Porter in the Black sea, arrived back in NATO military exercises Sea Shield. The Russian defense Ministry saidthat officially, the Pentagon has not sent any complaints to the Russian side.
About the transfer of s-300 announced community InformNapalm
On strengthening Russia’s military presence on the territory of Abkhazia reported on 15 March, the intelligence community InformNapalm. This non-profit Association was originally created to collect “evidence of Russian aggression” in the first place in the Donbass, said on the website of the organization.
Citing sources in Abkhazia, InformNapalm reported that on 10 March with Russia in the partially recognized Republic entered railway train – “about three dozen cars, including open platforms loaded with large wheeled machinery and large metal constructions”.
Confirmation of this statement, the members of the community found in open sources on the Internet. In particular, it was found Instagram video depicting the journey of a trainload of military equipment. “Fixed 17 cars, including cars with the wheel, the mast, radar and other AIDS to anti-aircraft missile system s-300″, – stated in the investigation InformNapalm. According to the geotagging, the train was moving along the railroad in the area of the administrative border of Adygea and Krasnodar territory.
Another proof of the transfer of technology, including machines of anti-aircraft missile systems s-300, the InformNapalm volunteers found in social network “Vkontakte”. Visit soldier of the 7th Russian military base on March 10 published pictures of the unloading of equipment from a train station of the city Gudauta with the hashtag #Abkhazia#replenishment. The authors of the investigation found that the video and pictures were shown of the same tier.
The authors of the investigation suggested that “we are not talking about replacing the old means of anti-aircraft missile regiment dvuhpilonnogo composition of the s-300 deployed by Russia” after the Georgian-Ossetian conflict in 2008. “Most likely, the Russian military command decided to increase to three battalions of s-300 and deepen the system of air defense/missile defense 7-th Russian” military base, considered in InformNapalm. Probably a new, the third division of s-300 will be deployed in Ochamchire (in the area of the polygon “, Nagvalou”) or the Gali district of Abkhazia, suggested the members of the community.
The authors of the investigation have linked the strengthening of the Russian military presence in Abkhazia with the recent introduction of visa-free regime between Georgia and the European Union. The decision was supported by most members of the European Parliament. While the communiqué of the faction of liberals in the European Parliament it was noted that the visa-free regime, among other things, will increase the attractiveness of Georgia for the population of Abkhazia and South Ossetia and will contribute to the peaceful resolution of the conflict in the country.
The Georgian foreign Ministry after the abolition of visas with the EU said that the visa-free regime will be introduced for the citizens of Abkhazia and South Ossetia, which Tbilisi considers the occupied territories. In Abkhazia, the statement called bait and denied. “Adopted by the European Parliament, the decision may extend only to the citizens of Georgia and does not apply to citizens of the Republic of Abkhazia”, – said the foreign Minister of the partially recognized Republic.
Field outputs of the Air defense troops of the Russian Federation are taking place in Abkhazia

It is also worth noting that on 17 March, the newspaper “Izvestia” reported on the imminent creation of a SMD new military enterprises – 8th combined arms army. Its headquarters is scheduled to deploy in Novocherkassk. Units of the army will be deployed in the Rostov and Volgograd regions, told the publication in SMD.

It will be created in the army headquarters and sustainment brigade. Presumably, the army will enter the newly formed 150th motorized rifle division, stationed in Novocherkassk, and the 20th guards motorized rifle brigade Volgograd.
Russia recognized the independence of Abkhazia and South Ossetia at the end of the armed conflict with Georgia in August 2008. The example of Russia was followed by only Nicaragua and Venezuela and the tiny island state of Nauru and Tuvalu. The rest of the world considers these republics as part of Georgia.
