The goalkeeper of CSKA and Russian national team on football Igor Akinfeev told about his attitude to antirekordnaya series of matches with missed goals in the Champions League, which lasted for 10 years. Goalkeeper red-blue gave to understand that he is not too worried about this sad statistic.

“At first it was disappointing, of course, but now I’m indifferent to these jeers, – quotes the 30-year-old captain UEFA.com. – People indeed do not despise me in your own words, and themselves. In Europe no one believes such a series, not gloating. And we have the fans to write nice things. Well, God forbid them health. Let at least 100 matches in the Champions League I will miss! In any case my business”.

The last time Akinfeev managed to keep a clean sheet in the Champions League 1 November 2006 in London, when CSKA played out a draw with Arsenal (0:0). Since then, in 42 games of the tournament Muscovites never played on zero. Akinfeev protected against CSKA in 39 of these 42 matches.

Muscovites will make another attempt to remove the European “curse” on 2 November in the third round of the group stage of the Champions League against Monaco. That is exactly 10 years and one day after a memorable duel with the “gunners”.

According to head coach of CSKA Leonid Slutsky, in the match with Monaco his team will have other priorities. “Goals, missed Akinfeev, the last thing we care about. Even if we win with the score 10:9, it will suit us”, – he stressed.
