Arbitration court of Bashkiria dismissed the claim the creators of the popular animated series “Masha and the Bear” to the owner of Birsk Eduardo Muzafarova, according to “Mediamarket”</u>. Representatives of the plaintiff claimed that the resident of the city of Birsk violated the copyright, and demanded as compensation of 90 thousand rubles.

However, the court found these arguments insufficient. According to the statements of the plaintiff, in 2014, Edward n sold three stickers with images of characters from the famous cartoon, thus violating copyright. According to the newspaper Ufa1.ruthe businessman got the profit from this sale, amounting to just six rubles.

The judge, in ruling, stated that as evidence of the sale was given only a receipt, which does not say what product was purchased. The representatives of the right holder did not appear at the hearing.

“Thus, it is not possible to establish that the fact of sale of counterfeit goods carried out by the entrepreneur. Based on the above, the court comes to the conclusion about absence in materials of the case the undisputed evidence of the fact of sale by the defendant of infringing goods, thus failing to satisfy the plaintiff claims, as recognized unproven”, – stated in the court decision.

Premiere of the first season of the animated series “Masha and the Bear” took place on Russian television in January 2009. The series is broadcast in almost all the States of the former USSR, in USA, Canada, Indonesia, India, the UK, Australia, Europe, Canada, Latin America and the middle East.
