The official mascot of the FIFA world Cup 2018 in Russia was the wolf Zabivka. The results of the vote were announced on the night of 22 October in the program “Evening Urgant” on “the First channel”.

In the final part were three mascot – a wolf, a tiger and a cat. Choose the official symbol of the competition was first on the website of the International football Federation, and on the last day of voting on a special page of the “First channel”.

In the choosing ceremony mascot took part Ronaldo and Zvonimir Boban, who holds the post of Deputy Secretary-General of FIFA. Federation President Gianni Infantino refused to attend the ceremony. He went to Jordan for the final of the women’s world Championships for players no older than 17 years.

Deputy Prime Minister of Russia Vitaly Mutko, who earlier held the post of Minister of sports, said on air of the TV channel “live TV”that voted for the wolf. He added that the talisman has voted more than one milliona. “This suggests that the interest was great,” said Mutko.
