The latest American destroyer USS Zumwalt (DDG-1000) anchored in the Panama canal because of the failure. The problem occurred at the power plant of the ship. Because of this the ship had to take in tow. When passing through the channel the destroyer also touched the wall of the gateway and received external damage, reports Defense News.

As reported by the official representative of the U.S. Third fleet Ryan Perry, now experts find out, how long the repair will take. After the accident, the ship was towed to the former naval base of the USA in the suburbs of Panama. In the future, the ship will go all the way to home port of San Diego, said NAVY Times.
