The international Paralympic Committee (IPC) refused to provide the Paralympic Committee of Russia (PKR) list of criteria for restoration of membership in the organization as long as the RCC will not stop the judicial work to defend the rights of Russian athletes. This was stated by the head of the RCC Executive Committee Pavel Rozhkov.
“We repeatedly requested the IPC on the question of criteria for recovery, they sent some of the demands: “Give copies of the speeches of the Minister of sports, the RCC President Lukin, which show that they agree with the position the IPC to suspend all judicial practice, if not pause, we these criteria today not send”, – quotes “Interfax” speech Rozhkova at a meeting of the Federation Council Committee on social policy.
The speaker noted that at the present time legal all the way for urgent suspend the decision of the IPC passed, but in October the deadline for applications for selection for the Paralympic games in Pyeongchang in 2018.
Recall that the reason for the removal of the entire Paralympic team of the Russian Federation from the Games of 2016 was the report of the independent Commission under the leadership of Richard McLaren on the state support program of doping in Russian sport, followed in 643 cases from 2011 to 2015.
“Sorry is not here today Vitaly Smirnov, who heads the independent anti-doping Commission of the ROC. This Commission includes the President of PKR, Vladimir Lukin. Smirnov, in his words, the other position will stop all court cases and peacefully begin to negotiate. He sees no other way, he believes that there should be harsh statements,” – said Rozhkov.
In this regard, he appealed to the Federation Council, which plans to adopt the statement on the inadmissibility of politicization of sport, to avoid in the final version of the document is too hard language about IPC, so as not to cause a negative reaction.
