Secretary of defense Ashton Carter praised the professionalism of the actions of Russian air force in the skies over Syria to prevent incidents with the aircraft Pro-American coalition. He accused Russia of unwillingness to expand areas of cooperation, and fuelling a humanitarian crisis. The night before, after the humanitarian pause, the Russian and Syrian planes resumed the bombing of Aleppo.
The head of the Pentagon arrived in Iraq to discuss progress in the storming of the local “capital “Islamic state” (IG banned in Russia) of the city of Mosul. Speaking about cooperation with Russia in Syria, Carter said: “We are there very professionally, we ensure that there are no conflicts in the sky. And this is an area in which the Russians, too, behave very professionally. We and all other members of the coalition all demonstrate professionalism. And it’s a very professional relationship”. (Quoted by “Interfax”.)
However, Carter has accused Russia of unwillingness to expand areas of cooperation in the field of air operations in Syria. “As you know, we always keep the door open for expansion of such cooperation, however, not so much here in Iraq, as in Syria. But we are not able to ensure that Russia also opened these doors,” – said the Pentagon chief.
He reiterated that Russia is not at war in Syria against the “Islamic state” (IG, a group banned in Russia), and “adds fuel to the fire of civil war and now contributes to a humanitarian crisis.”
As reminds RIA “news”, earlier, the Russian foreign Ministry and the Kremlin said that the deteriorating situation in Syria, particularly in Aleppo, was the fault of the United States. There pointed to the unwillingness or inability of Washington to divide the moderate opposition and rebels fighting for control of the Eastern part of Aleppo that is bombing.
