The play directed by Paul Zobnina “Beautiful far” Sakhalin international theatrical center named after Chekhov won the Grand Prix of Japan at the international theatre festival Theater Go Round, reports the website of the theatre.

Just the festival featured 40 theater companies from Japan, South Korea, France and Russia. Throughout November, the performances during the festival were shown in ten theaters in Sapporo.

The jury of the festival included the chair of the Contact group theatres Sapporo Tomoko Fujimura, Director of the group of theatres of Kieta district Eishu Arita, Director of the organization for the preview performances Kiyoshi Asanuma, writer Maki Iwasaki, Director of “Project design center” Naoaki Kano, teacher in the Department of art and culture Pedagogical Institute Hokkaido Yukari Saka and viewer AI Umezu.

In the annotation Chekhov centre said of the play that it was a “fine lyrical story about life and death, about the eternal quest of the human soul”. The performance was staged in 2012 by Director Paul Zobnin on the play by young playwright Danila Privalov.

As reported by the Chekhov centre, within the framework of the festival the performance “Beautiful far” was shown three times, each time sold out.

In 2013, Sakhalin theatre has already participated in the theater festival Theater Go Round. Then play “My life” directed by Vyacheslav Tesuka also received the Grand Prix of the contest.
