Turkish police opened fire on the motorcycle near the building of the Istanbul Ataturk airport, Reuters reports, citing CNN Turk. One of the passengers of the motorcycle were injured and arrested immediately, the second rider guards caught after a chase.
Local media reported that as a result of firing one of militiamen and civilians were not injured. It is not specified why the police asked the motorcyclists to stop. According to some, they were newcomers and could just not understand the requirement of the authorities.
Authorities in Istanbul said that the initial inspection did not reveal the presence of motorcyclists weapons or explosives.
Ataturk airport for a while was cordoned off and all roads leading to it were blocked. The schedule of the aircraft the incident did not affect. “The airport is open to passengers,” – said the Agency representative of Turkish Airlines.
