The President of Lithuania: location of “Iskander” near Kaliningrad – this is another aggressive move

The head of the Lithuanian foreign Minister Linas Linkevicius said in an interview with Die Pressethat Russia is increasing international tensions. Earlier, the management of a number of European countries criticized Russia over deployment of missile complexes in the Kaliningrad region. In Sweden the re-deployment of “Iskander” called provocation, which aggravates the situation in the Baltic region. Swedish defence Minister Peter Hultqvist stressed that we are talking about the possible carriers of nuclear warheads.
The day before the Minister of foreign Affairs of Poland Witold Waszczykowski said that Russia’s actions are “totally inadequate response to what NATO is doing”. According to him, Poland and the Baltic States do not have aggressive intentions against Russia, and therefore there is no grounds for strengthening of the Kaliningrad garrison.
Also Waszczykowski said that even if NATO deploy on the Eastern flank of their forces in the framework of the recent NATO summit in Warsaw, “it will not change its defense doctrine and the relations to Russia”. We are talking about the summit, which was announced on the placement in Eastern Europe four battalions of NATO for protection from Russia.
In a day when media reported about the deployment of Iskander, the defense Minister of Poland, Anthony Macierewicz said that “the Polish armed forces and intelligence system, including in collaboration with allies, are in constant readinessto monitor and guarantee the security of Poland and the partner countries”.
In the defense Ministry on 8 October confirmed the messages about the deployment of “Iskander-M” in Kaliningrad oblast.
