The President of the European Parliament intends to fight for the post of Chancellor of Germany, told German press
Current European Parliament President Martin Schulz has expressed a desire to nominate a candidate for the post of German Chancellor in the upcoming parliamentary elections in the Republic. This was reported by sources of the newspaper Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung, the Social democratic party of Germany, is a member of the politician.
According to the Agency DPA, which is referenced in DW, the head of the SPD Sigmar Gabriel on 15 November, was discussed with Shultz the purpose for which the party will nominate their representatives after the nomination of the foreign Minister, social Democrat Frank-Walter Steinmeier President of Germany. The party leader invited the President of the European Parliament to head the Ministry of foreign Affairs of Germany before the elections to the Bundestag, which will take place in autumn 2017.

In an interview with CNN, said her fellow party “Christian democratic Union” Norbert röttgen, Chairman of the Bundestag Committee on foreign policy. It is expected that Merkel herself, on 20 November, will announce his decision regarding willingness to participate in the parliamentary elections in Germany in autumn 2017.
