Published after the polls closed in Georgia, exit polls showed that in the parliamentary elections the leader of the ruling party “Georgian dream”. This means that the party can appoint a Prime Minister, in whose hands after the entry into force of the amended Constitution focuses Executive power.
According to the exit poll conducted by TNS at the order of the four local TV stations, “Georgian dream” gained 53.8% of the votes of the polled voters. Its main competitor – the party “United national movement” received 19.5 per cent of votes polled. Another exit poll showed a more modest leadership “Dreams”: 40% vs 32% at the END.
It is assumed that the 5 percent threshold of votes required to obtain seats in Parliament, has broken the electoral bloc “David Tarkhan-Mouravi, Irma Inashvili – Alliance of patriots of Georgia.”
Prime Minister of Georgia Giorgi Kvirikashvili, even before the publication of the first official data has congratulated the people of the country on the successful holding of parliamentary elections. He stated in Tbilisi at a rally of supporters and activists of the ruling party “Georgian dream”.
“The party is leading in the elections with a huge margin. I want to thank everyone who has supported our political force, which has carried out a major change in the life of the country”, – quotes the Georgian Prime Minister TASS.
The meeting was addressed by former Prime Minister Bidzina Ivanishvili.
He thanked all the voters for their support of the “Georgian dream”. He called the party a “brilliant team”.
In the Parliament of Georgia shall be elected 150 MPs, 77 by proportional lists, and 73 in single-mandate constituencies.
