The Russian Embassy in Damascus came under mortar attack. Two shells fell on the territory of the diplomatic building, two more exploded in the vicinity of the outer perimeter.

No injuries were reported, but as noted in the Russian foreign Ministry, it was “by luck”. The Ministry also said that the complex was caused “minor material damage”.

The Russian foreign Ministry expressed hope that “ethical standards of colleagues from several Western countries in the UN Security Council will help to give a proper public assessment of this criminal act”.

“In turn, confirmed that the principled and consistent line of Russia in the uncompromising struggle against the terrorists in Syria will be continued”, – assured the foreign Ministry.
