The Ministry of foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation stated that Russia and the United States have not yet agreed on the settlement of the situation in the Syrian city of Aleppo.
Deputy foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov denied message American newspaper The Washington Post that U.S. Secretary of state John Kerry is trying to achieve from Moscow of the termination of the siege of Aleppo in exchange for the separation of the Syrian opposition from members of the organization “Jabhat Fatah al-sham” (“Jabhat EN-Nusra”, banned in Russia).

“The content of the agreements that are produced, do not correspond to what is announced in this edition. The contents of these agreements are confidential in nature, and universally accepted method to develop agreements of any diplomacy is that nothing is agreed until everything is agreed, especially in such a complicated issue, as the solution of resolving the whole situation around Aleppo”, – said Ryabkov, quoted by RIA “Novosti”.

According to the diplomat, to say that “the American side in this particular situation, seeks to exchange one thing for another is a gross simplification of what happens.” As explained Ryabkov, the contacts of the defense Ministry and foreign Ministry with colleagues in the US continues virtually on a regular basis, at the same time “the situation is changing in the course of these consultations and negotiations, and on earth.”

“Therefore, publication of the Washington Post I would describe in two words: “last year’s snow” – summed up the representative of the Russian Embassy.

Previously, WP, citing state Department officials wrote that the U.S. Secretary of state John Kerry, despite the imminent resignation, continues to make “outrageous and extraordinary” diplomatic efforts to broker a deal with Russia on the termination of the siege of Aleppo. As noted by the sources, Kerry is concerned that after the inauguration of President Donald trump, the US can refuse to support the opposition and to side with Syrian President Bashar al-Assad.

The article said that the Obama administration consider the efforts of Kerry as a risky venture and only chance to convince the Russian and Syrian governments to stop the siege of Aleppo. According to WP, Washington in exchange for the cessation of hostilities he wants to separate the Syrian opposition from the “Jabhat Fatah al-sham”, which insurgents will have to leave the Eastern part of Aleppo.

According to WP, Kerry is discussing such an option of resolving the issue with all stakeholders. In particular, the Secretary of state is in regular contact on this issue with Russian foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov.

At the same time, as suggested by one of the sources, Russia is not interested in such developments and is deliberately stalling to either take Aleppo under control with the help of the fighting, or wait until the administration trump will offer more favorable terms for settlement.

The Russian presidential aide Yuri Ushakov, commenting on the eve of the material in the WP, confirmedthat John Kerry is making active efforts to achieve understanding between Russia and USA on Syria. However, he noted, it is difficult to say whether the outgoing U.S. administration to conclude the agreement.

“Their (efforts) can be called inconceivable in the sense that never before between Secretary of state and Minister of foreign Affairs of Russia had so many phone contacts, which primarily discussed one topic – Syria,” said Ushakov.

Note that the onset of the Syrian army, with the support of the Russian Federation in Aleppo continues. Tuesday, November 29, it became known that Assad’s forces over the past day is completely liberated from the militants of 14 districts in Eastern Aleppo.

The activity of Russia and the Syrian army in Aleppo worries the West, where it is called the fighting in the region “war crimes”. Some politicians offer to take drastic measures. Thus, the Chairman of the Bundestag Committee on foreign Affairs Norbert röttgen and the Deputy from the party “Union-90/Green” Francis Brantner demanded from Brussels to impose new sanctions against Russia in connection with the promotion of Syrian troops in Aleppo with the support of Russia.
