The state Duma Committee on financial markets on Monday recommended the lower chamber of the Parliament to nominate Elvira Nabiullina for the post of Chairman of the Bank of Russia for a new term, reports “Interfax”.

Russian President Vladimir Putin presented the candidacy of Nabiullina for appointment to the post of Chairman of the Central Bank for a new term at the end of March. The head of gosudarstva said he expects the Central Bank under the leadership of Nabiullina “will act the same regardless, so surely will behave”.

Nabiullina-Chairman of the Bank of Russia since June 2013. The current term of office at the head of the Central Bank coming to an end at the end of June 2017. According to Russian law, the term of office of the Chairman of the Bank of Russia is 5 years.

According to the law on the Central Bank, Bank of Russia Chairman shall be appointed by the state Duma by a majority of votes from total number of deputies. The state Duma will consider the question of appointment of Nabiullina at the meeting on 9 June.

Elvira Nabiullina has headed the Central Bank since June 2013. From may 2008 until may 2012 she was Minister of economic development of Russia. From may 2012 until his appointment as head of the Central Bank Nabiullina held a post of the assistant to the President of Russia.

The state Duma Committee supported the nomination of Nabiullina for the new term at the head of the Central Bank 05.06.2017
