The state Duma of the seventh convocation on Wednesday set the record duration of the meeting, which lasted almost 10.5 hours, reports “Interfax”

“Colleagues are telling that we came for the record: meeting with
breaks 10 hours 27 minutes,” said the speaker Vyacheslav Volodin
before the end of the plenary session.

As noted by the parliamentary observers, and in the previous convocation
MPs sometimes sat in the plenary hall, but, as a rule,
it happened when discussing the draft budget and not in the first
weeks after the election.

Also, “Interfax” notes that the meeting was one of the most visited: if last nights voting electronic scoreboard
recorded the presence in the chamber of 410 deputies.

Amendments to the regulations, forbidding to deputies to vote for absent colleagues, the state Duma adopted on 21 October. Explaining the necessity of the amendment, the speaker of the state Duma Volodin pointed out that the voters in the last election to the lower house voted for a particular MP, thereby entrusting to him the right to personally represent their interests in Parliament.
