The Supreme court approved a life sentence concerning the inhabitant of Nizhny Novgorod of Oleg Belov, accused in murder of mother, wife and six children, reports the Prosecutor General’s office. The sentence was handed down Nizhny Novgorod regional court on 29 June, but Belov didn’t agree with the decision and appealed it to a higher court.

Belov was sentenced to life imprisonment in a colony of special regime. The court also decided to appoint him to involuntary outpatient treatment and treatment in place of punishment and also ordered to recover from the defendant 5 million roubles on account of compensation of moral harm to the victim – mother-in-law Belova Valentina Zaitseva.

According to investigators, Oleg Belov on the morning of July 26, 2015 in his the stabbed wife and six children, dismembered the body and put in bags. Then on the train went to the town of Gorokhovets, Vladimir region, where he killed his own mother, saying that she can give it to the police.

Mother Nizhegorodets caused 21 stabbed, then buried her body. As it turned out, Belov wanted to deal with the mother, but she was lucky – a woman inadvertently missed a killer on the road.

The bodies of the children and the wife Belov was discovered on 4 August. On the same day, a man police arrested for belonged to his wife a garden plot in the city of Kovrov of the Vladimir region. During the detention he resisted and attacked with a knife on the police. The guards opened fire, wounding the suspect in the stomach. He spent a week in the hospital, then was transferred to jail.

Belov was charged with the murder of two and more persons, including a woman known in a state of pregnancy, and minors (part 2 of article 105 of the criminal code). In the case of three police officers, including two district police officers were accused of negligence.

Forensic psychiatric examination concluded that Belov has a mental disorder, not excluding sanity, in this connection, be held criminally responsible. Earlier, Belov said in court about his innocence, but in December 2015 for the hearing declared that admits the guilt.
