The Tretyakov gallery has announced the sale of additional tickets and extend to midnight of the exhibition of paintings by Ivan Aivazovsky.
“8 November, the exhibition “Ivan Aivazovsky. The 200th anniversary of the birth” will be open from 10:00 to 21:00. 17, 18, 19 and 20 November, the exhibition will run until 00:00 (start of last session – 22:30-23:00)”, – according to a statement on the Museum’s website.
The access time of exposition was extended in order to give visitors the opportunity to come in late in the evening, said in comments RBC head of the press service of the gallery Anna Kotlyar. She recalled that the Museum can accept no more than 250 people per session.
To date, the exhibition was visited by more than 480 thousand people. To extend the work of the Museum is not going to, because “this will require renegotiation of the huge number of treaties.”
According to TASS, the exhibition can beat the record of the exhibition of Valentin Serov, which was watched by almost 486 thousand people. Given that on average Aivazovsky come to see 5.5 thousand people a day is quite possible.
After completion of the first decade of the exhibition Aivazovsky Minister of culture Vladimir Medinsky claimedthat the exhibition has already surpassed the popularity of the exhibition Serov. As noted, the work of Valentin Serov watched an average of 4.5 thousand spectators a day.
The Aivazovsky exhibition presents more than 200 exhibits: 120 paintings and 55 works of graphic art, porcelain, archival documents, models of ships, nautical instruments. Among the exhibits, in particular, paintings of “the Ninth wave”, “Wave” and “View of Constantinople with moonlight illumination”. The exhibition will continue until November 20, 2016.
