The TV channel “Star” editor fired after a controversial broadcast about the Ossetian-Ingush conflict
TV guide “Star” was fired managing editor of the program “Legends of the army” after the broadcast, aired on November 15, was given a “dubious interpretation of the Ossetian-Ingush events of 1992“. It happened because of unsatisfactory work of the editorial group of the channel, compile the materials in a biased manner, said in a press release channel.
“The TV channel “Star” apologizes to all the viewers for false interpretation took place the tragic events. Treat with great respect and the Ossetian and Ingush people and wish them the world,” said TV guide. The release program has since been removed from YouTube-channel “Stars”, however, the recording of the broadcast available on third party sources.
The program “Legends of the army,” the head of Ingushetia, Yunus-Bek Evkurova argued that the blame for the Ossetian-Ingush conflict in 1992, should be assigned to the Ossetian side. The program was criticized by the head of the Republic of North Ossetia-Alania by Vyacheslav Bitarova and by Yevkurov, said the TV channel “Rain”.
18 November on the official website of North Ossetia released a statement Bitarova regarding the controversial issue of “Legend army”. “I receive numerous calls from residents of our Republic different nationalities. Russians, Greeks, Armenians, Azerbaijanis and other nationalities living together on the territory of our Republic, is also outraged. Everyone thinks that this is another incitement of ethnic hatred, which periodically appears in mass media”, – said the head of the region.
According to him, the episode “Legends of the army” served only one purpose – the incitement of ethnic hatred. “It is very dangerous for good-neighborly relations of the two republics, but the Russian state. This is unacceptable, especially on Federal TV channels, because we have to build friendly, neighborly relations with our neighbors, what we’re trying to do all these years”, – said Bitarov.
The head of Ingushetia, Yunus-Bek Yevkurov, in turn, saidthat he regretted the contact with fragments of an interview with him in the final program of “Legend army”. According to him, “the conflict of 20 years ago has long been exhausted, the Ossetian and Ingush peoples live in the world, and should not attempt to drive a wedge between us”. He also noted that the author of the program “allowed themselves to incorrect interpretation” of his words.
