Washington is ready to suspend cooperation with Moscow on Syria if Russia does not take immediate steps to halt the offensive in Aleppo and restore the truce, announced by Secretary of state John Kerry in a telephone conversation with the foreign Minister of Russia Sergey Lavrov. Later, state Department spokesman at the briefing announced that the United States is weighing some “undiplomatic” response to escalation in Aleppo.

On the website of the Russian foreign Ministry in a message about the conversation of diplomats is mostly Lavrov’s position. The sides “expressed concern”, and the head of Russian diplomacy “again drew attention to the fact that a number of anti-government forces, which Washington calls “moderate”… merges with the “Dzhebhat EN-Nusra” (a terrorist organization banned in Russia), continuing military operations against the Syrian army.” According to the foreign Ministry, “discussed the possibility of influencing the situation in Aleppo in the interests of its normalization through the return to the basic principles of Russian-American agreements to promote Syrian settlement.”

According to him, to continue cooperation Russia needs to take immediate steps to halt the offensive in Aleppo and restore the truce. Earlier, the White house saidthat the possible extension of economic sanctions against Russia.

The Russian foreign Ministry earlier stressed that it is ready to continue joint work with the US on the Syrian issue.

The representative of the UN Secretary General Stefan Dujarric emphasized the key role of cooperation: “They (Russia and USA) shared leadership in the establishment of a cease-fire is extremely important. Their continued cooperation in resolving this conflict is extremely important,” said Dujarric.

Aggravation in Aleppo

The situation was aggravated in Syria on Thursday, with the resumption of hostilities in Aleppo – the largest city in the North of the country.
