The US state Department reported a high probability of terrorist attacks in Europe during the holidays
The US state Department warned American citizens about the increased risk of terrorist attacks in Europe, especially during the holidays, reports TASS citing a statement issued by the foreign Ministry.
According to the state Department, the terrorist group “Islamic state” (IG) and “al-Qaeda” (both banned in Russia), as well as their affiliates continue to plan attacks in Europe.
The Department urged U.S. citizens to exercise caution. This warning is valid till 20 Feb 2017.
According to the state Department, the danger may come not only from the aforementioned groups, but also from homegrown terrorists, “sympathizers of the extremists.”
“The fighters can use a variety of tactics using both traditional and non-traditional weapons,” – said the diplomats, adding that the extremists can choose my targets as officials and ordinary people.
“We continue to engage closely with our European allies, the threat of international terrorism”, – concluded the Department.
