Translators from old Church Slavonic and old Russian language can start to work in churches during services, said the Agency urban news “Moscow” the President of the Russian Academy of education (RAO) and the Deputy Chairman of the Society of Russian language and literature Lyudmila Verbitskaya.
“We need to make the language of the Church became clear to everyone,” she said. – Our services are in old Church Slavonic and old Russian language, and preaching in Russian. It seems to me that in this case must be the translator”.
“I think we are definitely going to discuss this difficult subject that causes a lot of disputes”, – said Verbitskaya.
The society of Russian literature was established in March 2016, at the initiative of President Vladimir Putin, it was headed by Patriarch of Moscow and all Russia Kirill.
It should be recalled that in 2004 the current head of the Russian Orthodox Church (ROC), being then Metropolitan of Smolensk and Kaliningrad and head of the Department for external Church relations of the Moscow Patriarchate, ruled out the possibility of a transfer of worship from the old Church Slavonic into modern Russian language, because “such service will not be spiritually significant”.
Meanwhile, the language of the Church has already made available for the deaf. On 25 September the head of the ROC was first celebrated in the Church of All Saints in the Metropolitan area Novokosino divine Liturgy with sign language, reported the website Patriarhia.ru. The entire service, including hymns, in the Church there was a few specialists, who translated everything into sign language.
In 2015, when this Church was established the centre for work with deaf and hard of hearing people every week in the temple divine Liturgy with sign language.
