Two American fighter collided off the California coast, reports Reuters. One of the pilots after the collision managed to land his F/A-18 Hornet in the database. The other managed to eject.

According to the Agency, the incident had involved two fighters from the base in Miramar. The collision occurred over the Pacific ocean in San Diego.

Initially it was reported that both pilots after the collision ejected. Later the military base said that one of the pilots managed to land his plane at the airfield military base North Island.

The second pilot ejected, about an hour later he was picked up from the water rescue team aboard the aircraft carrier the USS Carl Vinson.

Both pilots undergo a medical examination, their condition is estimated as stable.
