The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine has extended a ban on demonstrations in the country Russian films. Now the ban covers all Russian films produced or demonstrated for the first time after January 1, 2014, the Agency UNIAN.

The ban extends to paintings, not containing promotion or propaganda of the state-“the aggressor”like Russia in Ukraine was officially recognized in January 2015.

Earlier this month, the head of Ukrainian Goskino Philip Ilyenko said that his Department was never shown in the country already more than 430 films and serials of Russian production. He noted that “there are certain things at the legislative level need to be improved”.

In June of 2015 in Ukraine entered into force a lawprohibiting display in the country films and TV series, “promoting” the power structures of Russia. Vice Prime Minister for humanitarian Affairs, Minister of culture of Ukraine Vyacheslav Kirilenko said that the ban applies to “militarist” films and TV series, released after 1991, as well as all Russian television and cinema, created after 2014.

In the number forbidden to be shown were, in particular, the Russian series “Brigada”, “Streets of broken lamps”, “Teacher”, “Voronin”, the film “We from the future”. In February 2016 the state of Ukraine has issued a ban on the display of another 21 Russian film.

In addition to the ban of cinema, Ministry of culture of Ukraine are also blacklisted Russian and world cultural figures who, in the opinion of Kiev, “a threat to national security of Ukraine”. This list is regularly updated with new personas: they close the entrance to Ukraine, and Ukrainian TV channels are forbidden to show movies and programs with their participation.
