Representatives of nationalist party “Freedom” captured the Holy Dormition Ukrainian Orthodox Church of the Moscow Patriarchate in the village of Star Khmelnitsky region of Ukraine, reports TASS with reference to the press service of the UOC-MP.

“Svoboda, headed by Viktor Berlikum (the Deputy of regional Council from party “Freedom”), threatening us with physical violence, they demanded the temple, quoted by Archpriest Mikhail Warehou. – To avoid acts of vandalism and collisions, we had to give them the keys and all the documents of the Church”.

According to the priest, the MP also campaigned believers of the UOC-MP to move to the Kyivan Patriarchate, and now against Burlica prepare a petition to the police for criminal prosecution.

“The Deputy initiated a collection of signatures about “transition communities of the UOC (MP) in UE, but I couldn’t wait for the results of the survey and the same day brought to the village priest of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church-Kyivan Patriarchate (UOC-KP), then a violation of all the laws supporters of the CP cancelled our Church ten and elected a new headman,” – said father Michael.

Earlier, on may 15, supporters of the UOC-KP seized the Orthodox Church in the village Kynakhivtsi Ternopil region, breaking the doors of the temple. At the moment, the police sealed the Church on the course of the investigation, the Agency reports.

According to the Deputy of the Verkhovna Rada from the “Opposition bloc” Vadim Novinsky, in the last three years in Ukraine was captured by the 46 churches of the UOC-MP, which were subsequently handed over to the schismatics.

UOC is actually split into two Patriarchates: Moscow subordinated the Russian Orthodox Church and the Kiev retains autonomy.
