Head of Department of refereeing and inspection of the Russian football Union (RFU) Valentin Ivanov left his post. As informs a press-service RFS, specialist submitted a letter of resignation, which was accepted by the Union leadership. The reasons for the dismissal are not known.
“The Russian football Union has officially reported that the head of the Department of refereeing and inspection, Valentin Ivanov is leaving his post. Specialist submitted a letter of resignation, which was accepted by the RFU leadership”, – stated in the message. In the RFU thanked Ivanov for his work and wished him further success.
Note that the Ivanov’s resignation occurred after a scandalous match of the 9th round of the Premier League “Zenit” – “Spartak” (4:2), where the work of teams of referees under the guidance of Sergey Ivanov, has caused dissatisfaction with the leadership of the Moscow club.
Valentin Ivanov headed the Department of refereeing from January 2014, replacing in this post the Italian Roberto Rosetti.
As an international arbitrator Ivanov has worked at the matches of the Confederations Cup 2003, European championship 2004 and world championship 2006.
