The Deputy of the state Duma from “Fair Russia” Valery Gazzaev, a well-known former football player and coach, has criticised the state of football in our country. The MP proposed to create a Commission that would monitor preparations for the 2018 world Cup in Russia.
Gazzaev said that the upcoming tournament on a planetary scale gives rise to serious concern – both in terms of infrastructure and in terms of sports results. According to experts, in 2010, when our country won the right to host the world championship in the Russian football there are no positive changes.
“The last six years, unfortunately, I have to say is the worst time for Russian football on achievements and quality of play both at club level and at the level of the national team” – quoted by TASS statement Gazzaev at the plenary session of the lower house of Parliament.
He reminded that Russia had “failed” two world Cup and two European championship on football. “Although these Championships were to become the catalysts of successful preparation for the 2018 world Cup. The team dropped to record-low place in the FIFA rankings or anything like that in the history of Russian and Soviet soccer was not”, – he stated.
The Deputy who this year ran for President of the Russian football Union, suggested to create the interdepartmental Commission for control and preparation for the world football championship 2018. It should include representatives of the state Duma, the government, public organizations, as well as football experts and coaches.
