Two giant global brewing – the global market leader Anheuser-InBev Vis and the Turkish company Anadolu Efes – can unite their efforts in the Russian market, the newspaper “Vedomosti”. Such a scenario, analysts do not exclude the largest banks and one of the employees of the brewing companies operating in the Russian market, told the newspaper that he heard about a possible merger.

The newspaper reminds that 24% of Efes in 2011 belonged to the British group SABMiller, a year ago bought for 106 billion AB InBev. According to CEO and President Robin Efes Gucci, his company is ready to discuss with AB InBev any partnership opportunities that can accelerate the growth of the business.

Credit Suisse analyst Sandzhet Aujla, in turn, considers these two companies as direct competitors in the Russian market (13% and 14% of the market in real terms in 2016), can combine their business in the region.

If this happens, in Russia the market leader Danish Carlsberg, which owns “Baltic” will be a serious competitor.

The merger could take place next year, is particularly difficult for the industry because of introducing in Russia the ban on plastic packaging for beer, and it is not excluded that the companies will combine their assets in other CIS markets.
