Speaker of the state Duma Vyacheslav Volodin, who headed the parliamentary Assembly of the Organization of collective security Treaty (CSTO), on the sidelines of this Assembly criticized adopted on 23 November the European Parliament resolution on the fight against “Russian propaganda” and warned of “bad consequences” of this decision.
“This decision of our colleagues in the European Parliament may lead to bad consequences and could become a dangerous precedent – quoted Volodin TASS. – MEPs have declared the persecution of the media and questioned the freedom of speech”.
The European Parliament, according to the speaker of the state Duma, “encroaching on the rights of journalists to provoke parliaments in other countries, the adoption of such decisions on the basis of that precedent.”
According to Volodina, “referred to in the resolution, RT can only congratulate”, as the professionalism of its staff “is recognized at a high level.” “We do not understand what professional journalists are so scared of our partners in Europe”, – said the speaker.
