The world anti-doping Agency (WADA) has excluded alcohol from the list of prohibited substances. The list of prohibited substances and methods for 2018 published in the official website of the organization.

Previously, alcohol was banned for use in competitions in four sports: motor racing, Aeronautics, water-motor sports and archery.

Note that the list of prohibited substances remained Meldonium, which is included in the list from 1 January 2016. Starting in 2016, the doping of the sample of nearly 300 Russian athletes tested positive for this substance, and later WADA released data intermediate research on the timing of withdrawal of substances from the body, the results of which a large part of Russian and foreign athletes was justified. The organization has decided that the contents of Meldonium less than one microgram (1 µg) per milliliter in the doping trial of the athlete, rented till March 1, 2016, is valid.

“Yearly overview of prohibited substances includes an extensive process of consultation with interested parties during the nine months, – said the General Director of WADA, Olivier Niggli. – When reviewing the list, the experts study the scientific and medical research, trends, intelligence collected by law enforcement and pharmaceutical companies to stay ahead of those who seek to cheat the system”.

The list of banned drugs, which was approved by the WADA Executive Committee on September 24, will come into force on 1 January 2018.
