The world anti-doping Agency (WADA) wants to get right to deprive countries of the ability to hold international tournaments for gross violations of anti-doping code. Such a proposal was advanced at the Council of founders WADA.

The tightening and the right of WADA to the imposition of penalties was supported by a member of the Board of founders of the organization from the International Olympic Committee (IOC) Adam Pengilly and the head of the Commission of athletes WADA Becky Scott.

The President of the International biathlon Union Anders Besseberg asked, is it fair to apply such sanctions against national federations, and received an affirmative answer from the authors of such proposals.

“At the moment, WADA has no effective instruments of influence on the country, the national anti-doping organization which does not comply with the WADA code, but now the situation will change,” – said the former head of the Committee on compliance with WADA Rene Bouchard.

According to the authors ‘ proposal, countries that grossly violated the anti-doping code, may be deprived of the right to hold the Olympic games and world Championships, said TASS.
