Former Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych unexpectedly appeared in Dorogomilovskiy Moscow court and testified as an interested person under the claim of the former Deputy of the Verkhovna Rada Volodymyr Oliynyk on the recognition of what happened in Ukraine in 2014, the events of the coup. In Kiev, meanwhile, the court sanctioned the arrest of former head of state.

Oleinik, who is a co-founder of Committee of rescue of Ukraine, previously appealed to the Ukrainian Prosecutor General’s office demanding to initiate a criminal case on the fact of the coup, but was refused. The ex-Deputy, according to him, intends to use the entire judicial system of Ukraine and to appeal to the European court of human rights for the recognition of the coup in February 2014 as a legal fact, reports TASS.

As noted in the lawsuit, voiced hope to protect their rights of a citizen of Ukraine in a Russian court, guided by the adopted by the General Assembly of the United Nations universal Declaration of human rights, ratified by Russia and Ukraine.

On Thursday in court to testify came Viktor Yanukovych, who, answering the judge’s questions, said that he is ready to testify as an interested person. “I decided to participate in court because of events 2013-2014-ies have gone beyond the legal framework, passed in violation of the laws of Ukraine, entailed heavy consequences suffered by the citizens of Ukraine and other countries,” he explained.

“Today I will testify to all these facts, but primarily on the fact of a coup, which resulted in grave consequences for my country,” emphasized Yanukovych.

Speaking about the event nearly three years ago, the former President of Ukraine said that the snipers who shot in February 2014 at the Independence square in Kiev during Euromaidan, came to Ukraine from other countries.

“There was information that the snipers arrived in Ukraine from other countries, many snipers were in masks. Shots were fired from buildings, controlled by Maidan. Trying to get into these buildings from representatives of the Maidan suppressed,” – said Yanukovych did not specify what nationalities were these snipers (quoted by RIA “Novosti”).

In addition, the ex-President of Ukraine in court once again stressed that he was removed from power in violation of the Ukrainian Constitution. In particular, according to him, has not been impeachment proceedings.

“This decision violates article 108 of the Constitution, which envisages the following grounds for termination of powers of the President. The first voluntary resignation. I did not submit his resignation. The second is the impossibility of execution of powers of the President state of health. I was completely healthy, I have no health problems was not. Third – removal from office by impeachment. This procedure has not been performed, and it is also a violation of the Constitution,” he said.

Remembering the events of the beginning of 2014, Yanukovych also spoke about how in February, an attempt was made to shoot him and his support. According to him, February 23, 2014 at his motorcade was attacked on the road from Kiev to Kharkov.

“Then the ambush was discovered on the border of Donetsk and Zaporozhye region, the advance party discovered an armed ambush. One of the cops told my guard that we “expect” that command is given to stop the President’s motorcade, shot all, no survivors left”, – told the former head of state.

Lutsenko said that the former President “is suspected of committing treason, aiding the authorities of the Russian Federation in deliberate acts committed with the aim of changing the boundaries of the territory and the state border of Ukraine in violation of the order established by the Constitution, and waging an aggressive war-the crimes provided by part 1 article 111, part 5 article 27, part 3 of article 110, part 5 article 27, part 2 of article 437 of the Criminal code of Ukraine” (quote from the text transcript of the website of the TV channel).

Kyiv court sanctioned the arrest of Yanukovych

Meanwhile, the Pechersk district court of Kiev, having considered in closed session, the petition of the Prosecutor of the Chief military Prosecutor’s office of Ukraine Roman Kravchenko, sanctioned the arrest of former President Viktor Yanukovych. About this on his page in Facebook wrote the chief Prosecutor of Ukraine Yury Lutsenko.

He explained that law enforcement authorities are seeking the arrest of Yanukovych, and then to consider the petition for application of a preventive measure in form of detention for the former head of state.

Earlier, on December 10, Lutsenko promised early next year to show Yanukovich charged with treason and the trial to proceed. According to him, the pre-trial investigation to be completed in “the coming months”, reminds RBC.

Viktor Yanukovych fled with his family from Ukraine in late February 2014 after protests in Central Kiev. February 22 the Verkhovna Rada adopted a resolution stating that Yanukovych “withdrew” from the performance of duties. The powers of the President were transferred to the speaker of the Rada Oleksandr Turchynov on may 25, 2014 was held early presidential elections, which were won by Petro Poroshenko.

In the summer of 2016, the state office of public Prosecutor of Russia has refused to extradite Yanukovych to Ukraine, as he felt his prosecution in the homeland politically motivated.
