This opinion, according to “Interfax”, on Tuesday expressed two-time Olympic champion in the pole vault, member of the athletes ‘ Commission of the International Olympic Committee (IOC) Yelena Isinbayeva at the VI international sports forum “Russia – sports power” in the Vladimir region.

“It is necessary to support veterans of the sport. We are 10-20 years defended the honor of the country on the sports courts. There are veterans of the great Patriotic war. It is necessary to make the title “veteran of sport” and also to give some signs. Because we gave the best years of his life, and in return many of us get nothing, we become unclaimed,” said Isinbayeva.

Isinbayeva announced his retirement from the sport during the Olympic games in Rio de Janeiro in August 2016.

In September of this year also appeared the information that the Olympic Champions of the Russian Federation legislate the right to be buried at the Federal military memorial cemetery, as they fall into the category of the citizens having special merits before the Homeland.

The burial of Olympic Champions is planned to allocate a separate area below current and future generations of Russian athletes could go there and pay tribute to the deceased great athletes who glorified their country.
